Karachi Initiates SAP System for KMC Employee Salary Verification

Karachi, In an effort spearheaded by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has commenced the process of data verification for its employees to transition to the PIU Click Local Government Department, Government of Sindh, under the SAP application system. This move aims to streamline payroll processes and enhance transparency within the municipal body.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the verification process began on Tuesday, February 20, at the KMC Head Office, where pay sheet clerks from all departments were instructed to present the paid bills for January 2024. The objective is to update and verify the active employee data across various departments. To facilitate this process, all drawing and disbursing officers, along with department heads, have been directed to closely coordinate with the KMC Payroll Section and Information Technology Department, ensuring the completion of this verification within three days.

The transition to the SAP application for the disbursement of salaries and pensions, initiated in August 2023 by Mayor Wahab, marks KMC as the pioneering local body in Pakistan to adopt this system. This strategic move is intended to rectify issues such as duplicate salary payments and secure the salary and pension data of KMC employees. Mayor Wahab highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technology to meet current requirements and improve the operational efficiency of local bodies in Karachi. He emphasized the collaborative effort between KMC and relevant departments of the Sindh government in executing this project.

Mayor Wahab also stressed the necessity for all KMC officers to ensure the successful implementation of this critical project through effective communication and to instruct their subordinates to provide full support to the Payroll Department. This initiative not only aims to modernize the payroll system but also aligns with the broader goal of developing Karachi’s infrastructure and administrative functions using contemporary technological solutions.
