Karachi Initiates Major Street Improvement and Health Care Enhancements

Karachi, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced a series of comprehensive urban and healthcare improvement projects across the city, including the paving of 2087 square feet of streets in UC 10 Korangi with an investment of eight crore rupees and the introduction of specialized medical treatments at Sarfaraz Rafiqi Hospital. Additionally, the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases will launch a nursing school to provide certified training to 130 students, signaling a significant boost to local healthcare education and infrastructure.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the announcement came during the inauguration of community support program’s pavement and renovation works in Korangi Town, where Mayor Wahab emphasized the unified efforts of federal, provincial, and local governments to enhance the city’s infrastructure and services. The initiative promises substantial changes in Karachi over the next three and a half years, aiming to improve living standards through infrastructure development, including water supply, sewerage, street lighting, and the construction of bridges and flyovers.

Mayor Wahab highlighted previous accomplishments such as the construction of Korangi’s 16 thousand road and a flyover at Korangi number 2 1/2, and outlined future projects designed to address pedestrian safety, traffic management, and the supply of clean water. Efforts to desalinate sea water and expedite the K4 project, which aims to alleviate Karachi’s drinking water shortage, were also discussed as part of the broader strategy to revitalize the city.

The projects in New Karachi, initiated at a similar investment of eight crore rupees, along with the ongoing work in Korangi, reflect a city-wide commitment to development and accessibility. These efforts, Mayor Wahab hopes, will not only modernize Karachi’s infrastructure but also significantly improve the quality of healthcare and education for its citizens.
