Karachi Initiates Major Healthcare Reforms for Police Personnel and Their Families

Karachi: In a significant move to enhance healthcare services for police personnel, a review meeting chaired by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon was held at the Central Police Office in Karachi, with additional participation via video link.

According to Sindh Police, the meeting brought together various high-ranking officials, including the CPLC Chief, Additional IG Welfare, DIGs from multiple departments, and the Medical Superintendent of the Police Hospital in Karachi, to discuss the current state of medical facilities within the police force. The focus was on improving outpatient department (OPD) services, ensuring access to experienced medical practitioners, and upgrading diagnostic and treatment capabilities. The discussion also covered the provision of high-quality medicines and the introduction of a health insurance plan that will offer up to 10 lakh rupees in indoor treatment facilities for police personnel and their families at top hospitals.

IG Sindh emphasized the need for hospitals and dispensaries to not only upgrade but also to equip with essential first aid, consultation services, and quality medications. Additionally, a directive was issued to conduct regular health surveys for police staff suffering from chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, ensuring a three-month supply of necessary medications. To maintain and improve the quality of healthcare services, a regular feedback mechanism from those receiving treatments will also be implemented.
