Karachi Initiates Major Development Projects: Focus on Roads, Water Supply, and Sewage Systems

Karachi, Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has announced a series of development initiatives aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure, with a special focus on road construction, water supply, and sewage systems. These projects, under the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), are set to bring significant improvements to the city’s traffic situation and enhance basic urban facilities.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the mayor highlighted these initiatives during the inauguration of Road Jinnah Hospital and Kala Pul Road, Shara Faisal Tamin Korangi Road. He emphasized the PPP’s commitment to the city’s development, under the guidance of Bilawal Bhutto. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Karachi Special Representative for Political Affairs Karamullah Waqasi, Project Director, and other officers.

The mayor stated that the construction of these roads includes the installation of a drainage system and satellite lights, with 80 poles and lights already in place on the three roads. He noted that the development work is being carried out in all seven districts of Karachi without any discrimination. He also mentioned ongoing projects, including Tannery Road in Lyari and the Korangi Causeway bridge, indicating a continuous journey of construction and development in the city.

In addressing the water challenges, Mayor Wahab discussed steps taken to combat the water mafia and announced the foundation stone laying for a new sewerage scheme in Central District. He also mentioned initiatives to improve the sewage system in Isa Nagri, in collaboration with the Pakistan Life Savers Program. This includes training city wardens in emergency response for heart attacks and accidents.
