Karachi: Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad announced the launch of a comprehensive spray campaign across the city aimed at curbing the spread of infectious diseases such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya by targeting mosquito breeding sites. The campaign, set to cover all seven districts, focuses on low-lying areas, near streams, and garbage dumps.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the inauguration of this fumigation effort took place at the Corporation’s head office, with Deputy Parliamentary Leader of the City Council, Dil Muhammad, Senior Director of Municipal Services, elected officials, and other dignitaries in attendance. Deputy Mayor Murad emphasized that the campaign’s goal is to shield the city’s populace from epidemic diseases and ensure comprehensive coverage, including areas around mosques and imambargahs.
The fumigation operations will employ vehicles and equipment from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, underscoring a sustained effort to protect public health. Murad stressed the administration’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens, aligning with the health-centric initiatives championed by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He also called for community cooperation with KMC during the campaign and encouraged residents to report any unsprayed areas for immediate action.
