Karachi, In a significant move to bolster communication and resolve issues between the police and the media, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon met with a nine-member delegation from the Press Club Karachi, led by its President Saeed Sarbazi, at the Central Police Office.
According to Sindh Police, the delegation proposed the establishment of a Police and Journalist Liaison Committee to enhance mutual relations and provide a forum for addressing journalists’ grievances. Additionally, they discussed security concerns in the Journalist Colony located in Hawke’s Bay, urging increased protection for Blocks 2 and 12.
IG Sindh responded positively, instructing that all necessary measures for the security of the journalist colony be implemented, including the formation of the Liaison Committee. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong, sustainable relationships between police and media, especially in tackling the spread of fake news. Memon also highlighted the need for journalists to support police efforts in promoting peace and public safety by accurately reporting on the police’s effective crime-fighting measures.
