Karachi Health Minister Criticized for Poor Performance and Constitutional Violations

Karachi, A recent statement from the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi has sharply criticized Dr. Saad Niaz, the Caretaker Health Minister, for his failure to improve hospital conditions and for allegedly violating constitutional and legal responsibilities. This development follows a series of unannounced visits by the Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, Justice Baqir, to various provincial departments.

According to Sindh CM House, these visits by Justice Baqir highlighted Dr. Niaz’s shortcomings in enhancing hospital facilities. Instead of making improvements, Dr. Niaz is accused of criticizing prestigious institutions like the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). The Chief Minister’s spokesperson claimed that Dr. Niaz deliberately postponed the health department’s review meeting three times to conceal his inadequate performance.

The statement further criticized the language and demeanor of Dr. Niaz, suggesting it was unbecoming of a professional doctor or minister. The Chief Minister’s spokesperson alleged that Dr. Niaz’s statements were baseless and false, showing his desperation when faced with accountability. This behavior is seen as a clear indication of his alleged incompetence and frustration.

Additionally, Dr. Niaz is accused of attempting to further his personal agenda by appointing a preferred secretary to the health department, an action characterized as contrary to protocol and due process. In contrast, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh was portrayed as committed to enforcing the constitution, laws, and regulations to enhance medical facilities for the public.

This controversy surrounding Dr. Niaz raises serious concerns about the governance and management of healthcare services in Karachi, with implications for public health and administrative integrity in the region.
