Karachi, February 25, 2023 (PPI-OT):Preparations for the Karachi Games 2023, which will begin on March 3 under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, have reached a peak. The schedule of various sports has been prepared for the Karachi Games according to which different games are scheduled to be held at the KMC Sports Complex, Women Sports Complex, Nazimabad Gymkhana, Eastern Star Ground, TMC Ground, Gulberg Gymkhana, Shadab Ground, Landhi Gymkhana, KP Ground, Karachi Hockey Association Stadium, Islahuddin Hockey Stadium, KMC Football Stadium, Trans Lyari Football Ground, Star Football Ground, Ibrahim Hydari Football Ground, Aram Bagh Court, Sindh Sports Board Complex Nazimabad, People’s Sports Complex.
Special arrangements are being made for the Karachi Games under the direction of Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rahman. All concerned sports associations have been consulted and in the light of their suggestions, cricket, hockey and football grounds, swimming pool, basketball court, track and field arena, squash court, badminton court, snooker table and other places have been provided with modern facilities.
Karachi Games 2023 will be held in accordance with the prescribed international rules and regulations of various sports and it will be mandatory for the participating players, teams and officials to adhere to these rules, Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman has told the organizers of the Karachi Games that for the first time such a big sports event is going to be held in Karachi, so the participation of the best teams and players of the city should be ensured.
He said these games should be widely advertised through mass media to generate enthusiasm among the citizens who are interested in various sports and to encourage the sportsmen and teams to participate in the Karachi Games in large numbers in stadiums and grounds.
He said that the media has a fundamental role in the success of sports events in the present era, so modern technology should be utilized. Not only cricket, football and hockey but also citizens are keenly interested in all other sports so their preferences have to be taken into consideration, he directed that from the Secretariat of Karachi Games 2023 established at KMC Sports Complex full and continuous liaison with sports associations and other relevant bodies must be maintained.
In this secretariat, technical staff, ground committee including officials and members of various sports associations will be present, while a media corner has also been provided for journalists related to print and electronic media to make this event successful and memorable.
He said that Karachi Games 2023 will give a new direction to the sports activities at the city level in future, which will improve the quality of inter-district competitions and provide better and more talented athletes and the interest of the citizens in sports will be increased further, raising the standard of cricket, hockey, football and other sports in Karachi and establishing an atmosphere of brotherhood and solidarity among the citizens.
The sports included in the Karachi Games 2023 are Cricket, Hockey, Football, Basketball, Shooting Ball, Volleyball, Softball, Netball, Dodgeball, Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Vishu, Badminton, Table Tennis, Snooker, Boxing, Squash, Chess, Rowing, Carrom, Body Building, Swimming, Roller Skating, Sepak Takra, Futsal, Tug of War, Gymnastics, Wrestling, Shooting, Scrabble, Tennis, Cycle Race, Donkey Cart Race, Arm Wrestling, Mass Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Marathon Race whereas apart from field and track events, the traditional cultural sports of Sindh Malakhra Kabaddi and Khokhu are also included in these games.
