Karachi, In anticipation of significant rainfall, the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), led by Director General Syed Shujaat Hussain, has declared a rain emergency across its townships and schemes, mobilizing resources to mitigate potential flooding and infrastructure challenges.

According to Karachi Development Authority, DG Hussain has directed all relevant departments to ensure that drainage systems are fully operational and that water draining machinery is active at all times. The directives emphasize round-the-clock preparedness of all KDA officers and staff, with a strict order canceling any leaves and mandating emergency duty schedules. Chief Engineer Tariq Rafi has been specifically tasked with clearing encroachments that may obstruct drainage and ensuring that all waterways within KDA jurisdictions are maintained to prevent overflow.

Further, a Rain Emergency Center has been established at the Civic Center to monitor the rain situation and coordinate necessary emergency responses effectively. This center will operate continuously, providing vital oversight and ensuring that all measures are in place to protect life and property from the expected rains.
