KARACHI: Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad has instructed the city’s recovery department to achieve the full revenue target set in the budget, emphasizing the need for enhanced collection from municipal terminals and parks.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Deputy Mayor underscored the importance of an integrated approach to revenue recovery during a meeting that included Finance Advisor Gulzar Abro and senior directors of municipal departments. He stressed that increasing revenue from the zoo and gardens is crucial for improving the city’s overall situation and directed all relevant departments to prioritize this directive. Murad also advocated for exploring new revenue sources and optimizing existing ones to enhance municipal facilities for citizens.
During discussions with Director General Parks and Horticulture Junaidullah Khan and other officers, Murad proposed entry fees at parks as a potential revenue source. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current revenue from the zoo, which stands at 2.25 million rupees, citing the lack of large animals as a factor in decreased earnings. Murad called for immediate measures to boost zoo revenue, including organizing educational activities for students and acquiring new animals. The Deputy Mayor reiterated the commitment to providing maximum facilities to citizens and urged officers to efficiently fulfill their responsibilities to improve municipal services.
