Karachi Deputy Mayor Responds to Governor’s Criticisms, Asserts Local Bodies’ Effectiveness

Karachi: Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, has responded to Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori’s recent criticisms by affirming that local governmental bodies are effectively managing their responsibilities. The Deputy Mayor emphasized ongoing developmental projects and improvements in city infrastructure, urging political leaders to focus on their respective roles.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Deputy Mayor Murad addressed the Governor’s comments by highlighting the active role of local bodies in addressing urban issues, particularly in road construction and transportation. He reassured that the efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure are progressing, with significant attention to solving transport problems which have been reportedly resolved by the efforts of the local bodies, often referred to as “Jayalas.”

Murad also referenced past mayors, including Syed Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, and Waseem Akhtar, questioning the long-term impact of their tenures and projects initiated under their leadership. He argued that despite the historical contributions of these figures, the current local bodies are diligently working towards the betterment of the city’s infrastructure and public services.

The Deputy Mayor’s statements come in a context of ongoing discussions about governance and development in Karachi, stressing the importance of collaboration and focused governance by all parties to effectively address the needs of the city’s residents.
