Karachi Deputy Mayor Praises Local Government Response to Rain Emergency

Karachi: Deputy Mayor Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, commended the efforts of the Karachi Municipality, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, Water and Sewerage Corporation, and local government representatives for their performance during a prolonged period of rainfall. In a meeting with the Rain Emergency Department, Murad highlighted the effective strategies that have kept the city functioning smoothly despite the weather challenges.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Deputy Mayor Murad detailed the proactive measures taken to manage the rainwater effectively. He praised the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board and Water Corporation for their roles in ensuring that drainage systems were cleared on time, which prevented any significant waterlogging on highways and other critical areas. Murad noted that the pre-monsoon desilting of drains played a crucial role in managing the water flow and avoiding overflow during the rain spells.

Murad also acknowledged the People’s Party (PPP) town chairmen for their leadership and service during the rains. He stressed the collective readiness to handle more rain if necessary and reiterated the commitment to the city’s development and prosperity. Despite facing criticism from some quarters, he affirmed that the local government would continue to focus on its duties and ensure the provision of necessary facilities to the public during such emergencies.
