Karachi Deputy Mayor Accuses MQM of Neglecting City’s Development in Response to Criticism

Karachi: Deputy Mayor of Karachi, Salman Abdullah Murad, sharply criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), claiming the party is neglecting the city’s development due to a purported bias towards the People’s Party. Murad accused MQM of being indifferent to the issues of “China cutting” and the clogging of rainwater drains, which exacerbate the suffering of citizens, particularly during the monsoon season.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Murad’s comments were a direct response to previous criticisms made by MQM leaders. He argued that MQM’s alleged disregard for the city’s welfare has hindered various development initiatives led by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and his team. The Deputy Mayor emphasized that under the guidance of the Sindh Government and the Municipal Corporation of Karachi, concerted efforts are being made to address urban challenges effectively, ensuring that residents face minimal disruptions during the rainy season. This commitment, he noted, is evidenced by the ongoing presence of his team and himself on the streets, working to mitigate the city’s infrastructural issues.
