Karachi Celebrates Olympian Arshad Nadeem with Governor’s Pledge to Boost Sports


Karachi: In a ceremony held at Governor House, Olympian gold medalist Arshad Nadeem was honored in the presence of consul generals from China, Turkey, Iran, Qatar, Bangladesh, and other nations. Governor Sindh announced significant new initiatives to promote sports development across the province.



According to Sindh Governor House, the event celebrated not only Nadeem’s achievements but also signaled the Governor’s commitment to integrating sports more fully into his policy initiatives. Governor Sindh pledged comprehensive support for sports, announcing collaborations with Nadeem and his coach to propel sports forward in the region. Plans for a major sports event, ‘Meera Than,’ set for January in Karachi, were also unveiled, aiming to be the largest of its kind in the city.



Further demonstrating his support for young athletes, the Governor announced financial rewards and motorcycles for the players of the winning under-15 football team, emphasizing his hope that they continue to bring honor to Pakistan with their efforts. The ceremony also saw Nadeem performing a javelin throw at the Governor’s request, echoing his Olympic success, and was followed by a symbolic tree planting by the attendees as part of an ongoing environmental campaign.
