Karachi Braces for Continued Rainfall, Mayor Assures Readiness

Karachi: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed today that although the recent heavy rainfall has ceased in Karachi, the city is prepared for more expected showers in the coming days. This proactive stance follows successful efforts to clear major roads and maintain essential services amid the current weather challenges.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab personally surveyed various parts of the city to evaluate the post-rain conditions, noting that while some areas experienced water accumulation, response teams have effectively managed these situations. The meteorological department forecasts that the rain spell will persist, prompting ongoing preparedness measures including the deployment of pumps and other essential machinery to ensure roadways remain clear.

Mayor Wahab has called on citizens to collaborate with the administration to facilitate efficient drainage and maintain cleanliness during the rainfall. He emphasized that the city’s prior actions, such as preemptive clearing of stormwater drain choke points, have significantly contributed to managing the rainfall impact effectively. The mayor reassured that all major stormwater drains are functioning normally, with no obstructions, ensuring that the city can handle further adverse weather without major disruptions.
