Kalat Division Authorities Intensify Efforts in Anti-Polio Campaign Amid New Challenges

Khuzdar: In a concerted effort to combat the resurgence of polio, Additional Commissioner of Kalat Division, Ijaz Ahmad Jafar, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating the disease and safeguarding the future of the region’s children. This statement was made during a crucial meeting aimed at bolstering the ongoing anti-polio campaign.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting saw participation from various stakeholders including Area Coordinator WHO Kalat Division Dr. Nusrat Baloch, District Sports Officer Khuzdar Muhammad Hashim, and other significant local officials. The discussion focused on refining strategies and addressing challenges following the detection of the polio virus in the sewage water of several districts within the division, highlighting a pressing need for a robust response. Dr. Baloch provided an update on the situation, noting recent findings in Lasbela, Hub, and Khuzdar districts, which have underscored the urgency of intensified preventive measures.

The Additional Commissioner emphasized the critical role of community leaders, including scholars, tribal chiefs, local body representatives, and journalists, in mobilizing public support for the vaccination campaign. By securing widespread participation, Kalat Division aims to achieve a polio-free status swiftly and effectively.
