Kachhi: A seminar focused on the benefits and importance of mother’s milk was held in Dhadar, the capital of Kachhi district, drawing attention to maternal and child health. The event featured key healthcare officials and included an awareness walk to promote breastfeeding practices.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Deputy Commissioner Kachhi, Captain retired Jameel Ahmed Baloch, who attended as a special guest, emphasized the critical nutrition needs of both mother and child. He pointed out the vulnerabilities faced by mothers and children when proper nutrition is lacking and stressed the necessity of immediate breastfeeding after birth.
Healthcare leaders including District Health Officer Dr. Ayaz Ahmed Qureshi, Assistant Commissioner Qazi Mohammad Pervez, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Zahid Ali participated, highlighting collaborative efforts to enhance public understanding of breastfeeding’s vital role in preventing malnutrition. The seminar aimed to ensure pregnant women and nursing mothers receive the support needed to foster healthier lives for themselves and their children.
The discussions underscored that mother’s milk is not only a fundamental right of every child but also crucial for proper development during the first six months of life. The call was made for more events and programs to effectively disseminate information about the benefits of breastfeeding and the need for additional nutrition for children post-breastfeeding.
