Islamabad: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, during his official visit to China, met with Li Lei, Vice President of China Railway Electrification Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (EEB), in Beijing. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation between Pakistan and China in maritime connectivity, railway electrification, and transport infrastructure.

According to Press Information Department, EEB is a prominent Chinese engineering company specializing in railway electrification and urban transit systems. During the meeting, both parties explored potential collaborations in railway electrification, port connectivity, logistics infrastructure, and smart transportation systems. These strategic projects aim to bolster Pakistan’s maritime economy and enhance regional trade under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Junaid Chaudhry emphasized the importance of partnerships with leading Chinese engineering firms to develop efficient and technology-driven transport networks. These initiatives are expected to link Pakistan’s ports with inland economic corridors, thereby improving trade competitiveness and supporting sustainable economic growth. He reiterated the government’s dedication to modernizing ports, promoting sustainable infrastructure, and attracting international investment.

EEB’s leadership expressed interest in investment and technical collaboration opportunities in Pakistan, pledging support for the country’s infrastructure development through innovative engineering solutions. Both sides agreed to enhance institutional coordination and explore priority projects in railway electrification, port logistics, and smart transport systems.

Junaid Chaudhry extended an invitation to Li Lei to visit Pakistan to assess investment opportunities and potential infrastructure projects. Li Lei accepted the invitation and affirmed EEB’s interest in expanding its engagement in Pakistan.
