JUH Meeting Declares Waqf (Amendment) Bill Unconstitutional

New Delhi: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind convened a consultative meeting in New Delhi, declaring the Waqf (Amendment) Bill unconstitutional and a direct threat to Waqf properties. Leaders from various organizations, political figures, and experts discussed the implications of the Bill and strategized resistance efforts.

According to Kashmir Media Service, attendees resolved to collaborate with like-minded political parties to intensify their opposition. The Bill, introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 8 and later referred to a joint committee, spurred controversy, with opponents arguing it targets Muslim community interests and undermines constitutional protections for Waqf properties.

The meeting, orchestrated by Jamiat president Maulana Mahmood Madani, highlighted the spread of misinformation and communal biases as critical concerns, necessitating a unified front across political, social, and legal arenas to protect Waqf assets. Participants denounced the Bill unanimously, calling for public and multimedia campaigns to correct misconceptions and rally support against the legislation.
