Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan convened in the Supreme Court Building to deliberate on significant judicial appointments and potential amendments to existing rules. Chaired by the Chief Justice, the meeting focused on confirming and appointing judges to the Lahore High Court and the High Court of Baluchistan.

According to Press Information Department, the Commission recommended confirming Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa as a permanent judge of the Lahore High Court. Additionally, ten nominees were recommended for appointment as additional judges to the same court. These nominees include Amir Ajam Malik, Asad Ali Bajwa, Barrister Muhammad Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, Ghulam Sarwar Nihang, Khalid Ibn-i-Aziz, Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid, Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Munawar Iqbal Duggal, Shiren Imran, and Syed Farhad Ali.

In the High Court of Baluchistan, the Commission recommended the appointment of three additional judges: Allah Dad Roshan, Muhammad Rauf Atta, and Abdul Qayyum Lehri, while two vacancies remain unfilled. The Commission also discussed proposed amendments to the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (Appointment of Judges) Rules, 2024, which will be circulated among Commission members, including those from the Federal Shariat Court and other High Courts, for further consideration and approval.
