Judicial Commission Approves Formation of Constitutional Benches in Sindh High Court

Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan convened its third meeting under the 26th Constitutional Amendment at the Supreme Court to deliberate on the establishment of Constitutional Benches within the High Court of Sindh. The session was presided over by Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, Chief Justice of Pakistan and Chairman of the Judicial Commission, focusing on a singular agenda item.

According to Supreme Court of Pakistan, the meeting included the participation of several distinguished members, including Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar who joined via video link, and other notable justices and officials. After a comprehensive exchange of views, the Commission agreed, with a majority vote of 11 to 4, to appoint nine judges to form the Constitutional Benches for a period of two months. The judges appointed include Mr. Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha as the head, along with Justices Salim Jessar, Omar Sial, Yousaf Ali Sayeed, Abdul Mobeen Lakho, Zulfiqar Ali Sangi, Ms. Sana Akram Minhas, Khadim Hussain Soomro, and Arbab Ali Hakro.

The meeting also saw the attendance of significant figures such as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Sindh, Mr. Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, senior government officials, and members of the legal fraternity.
