Journalist Assaulted at BJP Rally in Uttar Pradesh, Mistaken for Muslim

Bareilly, A journalist was assaulted by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a rally for Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in Rae, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after being mistaken for a Muslim due to his attire.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Raghav Trivedi, a journalist with Molitics, a YouTube news channel, was covering the rally and conducting interviews when BJP members confronted him over his beard and traditional Kurta Pyjama. The altercation escalated when he refused to turn off his camera, leading to a physical assault.

Despite the presence of police and other journalists at the scene, no intervention occurred. The Congress Party later circulated a video showing Trivedi receiving medical attention, criticizing the BJP supporters for their actions, which they claim were also aimed at suppressing coverage of women admitting they were paid to attend the rally.
