JKSM Condemns Modi Government’s Seizure of Hurriyat Leaders’ Properties in IIOJK

Islamabad, Altaf Ahmad Butt, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), has vocally condemned the Indian Enforcement Directorate’s recent actions in attaching properties of Hurriyat leaders and activists, including Zafar Akbar Butt, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Butt criticized the confiscation as an attempt by the Modi-led Indian government to suppress the Kashmiri freedom movement and tarnish its image. He revealed that both he and his elder brother, Zafar Akbar Butt, have been active in the right to self-determination movement since childhood, facing ongoing harassment from the Indian military establishment. Despite these challenges, Butt highlighted his continued commitment to supporting the education of youth and the rehabilitation of displaced people in IIOJK.

He also recounted the establishment of Al Jabbar Trust for charitable purposes, which was forcibly closed by Indian authorities in 2015, hampering their ability to aid those affected by the 2014 floods in IIOJK. Butt urged the international community to recognize these actions as violations of basic human rights and called for support in upholding the UN Security Council resolutions granting the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.
