London: The Jammu and Kashmir Self Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) has voiced concerns about what it describes as sham elections conducted by Indian authorities in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, JKSDMI Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain, in a communication to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, criticized the elections as lacking legitimacy and not fulfilling the long-standing promise of a plebiscite under United Nations resolutions. Hussain emphasized that these elections do not represent a legitimate exercise in self-determination and fall short of addressing the political aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Furthermore, Hussain detailed the adverse conditions under which the elections are being held, including military occupation, human rights abuses, and suppression of free communication. He asserted that such an environment renders the electoral process non-credible.
