JKPL Commemorates Sheikh Abdul Aziz on 16th Martyrdom Anniversary

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) marked the 16th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz, paying homage to his legacy and commitment to the Kashmiri cause on August 11.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sheikh Abdul Aziz was killed by Indian forces during a significant march towards Azad Kashmir on August 11, 2008, amid protests against an economic blockade by Hindu extremists. His death is remembered as a critical moment in the ongoing struggle in the region.

Dr. Musaib Ahmed, Chairman of JKPL, in a commemorative statement, recalled Sheikh Aziz’s dedication to the Kashmiri resistance, celebrating his efforts towards freedom and justice. He stated, “Every drop of blood shed on the streets of Kashmir strengthens our resolve. We will not tolerate any betrayal of the Kashmir cause or deviation from our party’s policies regarding the resolution of the Kashmir issue.” Dr. Ahmed also announced the expulsion of Mukhtar Ahmed Waza from the party due to indiscipline and actions contrary to party objectives.

The statement also addressed the party’s stance on elections, with Dr. Ahmed clarifying that the JKPL would not engage in what it views as farcical electoral processes that do not align with its agenda.

JKPL Vice Chairman and APHC AJK leader Syed Aijaz Rehmani echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that any involvement in such elections or anti-party activities would be considered treacherous.
