JKMM demands release of Hurriyat leaders, activists from jails

Srinagar, July 31, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM) has demanded immediate and unconditional release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of the territory and India.

The JKMM Information Secretary, Shabbir Ahmed, in a statement in Srinagar expressing concern over the detainees’ plight, said that thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists have been detained in different prisons including Tihar jail, Agra Jail, Jodhpur Jail, Kot Bhalwal jail and Udhampur jail.

Shabbir Ahmed said the detainees have been deprived of all the basic facilities including medical care while they are being subjected to physical and mental tortured in jails. He said that their health condition was deteriorating with each passing day but despite it the authorities were not releasing them. He appealed to the world community and international human rights organizations to take notice of the detainees’ plight and put pressure on India to release them forthwith.
