Paris: Mirza Asif Jarral, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Forum France (JKDFF), has called for instilling the spirit of the 1931 Kashmiri martyrs in the younger generation to further the cause of freedom from India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Jarral’s statement in Paris emphasized the importance of rekindling the dedication and motivation of those who initiated the Kashmiri freedom movement in 1931, aiming for the eventual liberation from what he described as “Indian shackles.” He articulated a demand for the international community, including bodies like the United Nations, the European Union, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to intervene and halt the human rights abuses allegedly perpetuated by the Indian government in Kashmir.
The statement also highlighted recent observations of Burhan Wani’s martyrdom, noting that Wani’s death has sparked a renewed fervor for independence among Kashmiris. Jarral called on global entities to recognize and act against the reported oppression, urging protective measures for Kashmiri women and youth and resistance against demographic changes in the region.
