Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a progress review meeting on the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center project in Islamabad. According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on exploring the involvement of the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) in the commercial aspects of the project. The initiative follows directives from the Prime Minister, urging collaboration between various governmental bodies.
During the meeting, officials confirmed that the project’s master plan and PC-II have received approval, and initial consultations with the Chairman of EOBI have been conducted. Both parties agreed to first conduct a feasibility study before developing a proposal for EOBI’s investment in real estate related to the project. Consultants from Aga Khan University will aid the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in selecting local consultants for detailed design and construction supervision. An Expression of Interest has been issued for hiring these consultants, who will handle engineering designs, project supervision, and quality control.
Minister Iqbal emphasized the importance of maintaining international standards in the consultants’ work and urged the timely finalization of the project’s designs. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s instructions to involve EOBI to enhance financial benefits, while underscoring the project’s potential to deliver advanced medical facilities and contribute to research and development in the health sector.
