JI Leader Dr. Hamid Fayaz Rearrested Following Brief Parole in Kashmir

Srinagar: Dr. Hamid Fayaz, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was rearrested shortly after being released on parole to attend his son’s wedding, a move that has sparked considerable concern among his family and supporters.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr. Fayaz’s release was short-lived, lasting only until the day after his son’s wedding, leading to significant distress for his elderly parents and children. This action is part of a broader pattern of what local leaders describe as oppressive tactics by the Modi administration aimed at neutralizing political dissent within the region.

The rearrest has drawn criticism from APHC leader Abdul Samad Inqilabi, who highlighted the inspirational role of Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership in opposing the Indian government’s policies in Kashmir. Inqilabi has called on the Pakistani government to raise awareness internationally about the ongoing hardships faced by the Kashmiri people under Indian governance.
