Jhal Magsi Preps for Monsoon Floods with Enhanced Measures in Key Areas

Jhal Magsi: As the monsoon season approaches, Jhal Magsi’s irrigation department has ramped up its preparations to handle potential flooding, deploying engineers and machinery strategically across various flood-prone areas. The initiative aims to minimize damage and protect the local population, with comprehensive steps being implemented in critical locations such as Chokhi Village and MT Barija Shambhani Saifabad.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Executive Engineer of the Jhal Magsi Division, Muhammad Yar Maksi, emphasized the efforts undertaken under the guidance of Mir Muhammad Sadiq Imrani, Provincial Minister of the Irrigation Department, and Provincial Secretary Irrigation, Hafiz Abdul Majid. The focus is on fortifying the flood lanes that traverse through significant areas including Jhal Magsi and Kot Magsi. The deployment of heavy machinery and the diligent work of the irrigation staff are part of a broader strategy to manage the water flow effectively, especially in regions like Saifabad where water pressure tends to peak due to incoming flood relays from upper areas.

During a meeting with officers and tribal elders to assess the flood situation, Muhammad Yar Maksi issued directives to maintain high standards of duty in the face of emergency scenarios. He stressed the importance of readiness and preventive measures to safeguard lives and property, acknowledging the limitations in combating natural disasters but underscoring the necessity of preparation.

The ongoing monitoring of floodwaters from elevated terrains and the strategic use of heavy machinery are crucial to ensuring that these waters are redirected away from populated areas. The efforts also involve close coordination with the district administration to align on the best approaches for public safety.

The proactive measures taken by Jhal Magsi’s irrigation department reflect a committed response to the challenges posed by natural calamities, particularly in enhancing the district’s resilience against potential flood impacts during the monsoon season.
