Islamabad: The Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, to discuss economic reforms and bilateral relations. The meeting focused on enhancing economic cooperation between Japan and Pakistan.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Minister Aurangzeb acknowledged Japan’s longstanding partnership with Pakistan and highlighted the progress in macroeconomic stability due to key reforms in taxation, energy, and privatization. He stressed the importance of the government’s ongoing reform agenda, which targets critical issues such as population growth and climate change.

Ambassador Akamatsu praised the government’s reform efforts and the positive momentum in Pakistan’s economy. He noted that approximately 80 Japanese companies currently operate in Pakistan, employing over 65,000 local workers and contributing to the economy.

Minister Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for Japan’s support and encouraged Japanese investment in sectors like manufacturing and production to boost Pakistan’s export capacity. Both parties expressed a mutual interest in strengthening economic ties and exploring new collaboration opportunities.
