Japan Reaffirms Commitment to Support Pakistan in Diverse Sectors


Islamabad, Japan has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to support Pakistan in its development across various sectors, including health, education, environment, and water. This pledge was made during a courtesy call by Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mitsuhiro Wada, to Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema in Islamabad.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the longstanding bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan. Minister Cheema highlighted the shared values and perspectives between the two countries and emphasized the significance of Japan’s economic assistance to Pakistan.



During the meeting, Ambassador Wada provided an update on the implementation of ongoing development projects funded by Japan. This included a special assistance package for the 2022 floods and a scholarship program for the capacity building of civil service officers in the Government of Pakistan.



The minister expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued support and noted that the country’s economic assistance has been instrumental in various development projects in Pakistan. Both sides agreed to convene the next session of the Japan-Pakistan High-Level Economic Policy Dialogue at the earliest opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation.



Japan’s reaffirmation of support to Pakistan reflects the enduring relationship between the two countries and their mutual commitment to fostering development in key sectors. The discussion also highlighted Japan’s role in supporting Pakistan’s recovery and resilience in the wake of natural disasters and its efforts to promote capacity building among Pakistani civil service officers.



The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continued collaboration and the pursuit of common goals in development and economic growth.
