Japan Pledges Support for Pakistan’s Climate Initiatives


Islamabad: In a significant development for Pakistan’s climate change strategies, Japan has committed to funding three pivotal projects, enhancing the nation’s capabilities to combat environmental challenges. This announcement was made during the recent meeting of the Asian Parliamentarians’ Forum on Population and Development in Islamabad, hosted in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Islamabad Declaration issued at the meeting highlighted Japan’s ongoing support, with the Japanese Minister of State outlining comprehensive funding initiatives. These are set to bolster Pakistan’s efforts in addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, emphasizing a robust partnership between the two nations.



Furthermore, the Japanese Minister of State expressed intentions to assist Pakistan in securing additional support from the World Bank to manage disaster risks linked to climate changes. This multifaceted approach marks a crucial step in fortifying Pakistan’s infrastructure and community resilience against environmental threats.



The Asian Parliamentarians’ Forum on Population and Development also signaled a deepening of ties by offering Pakistan a position on its Executive Council. This move reflects the successful diplomatic engagements facilitated by the SIFC, aimed at propelling Pakistan’s stature on international platforms concerning population and development issues.
