ISLAMABAD: In a meeting at the Parliament House, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, met with Mr. Akamatsu Suichi, the Ambassador of Japan, to discuss enhancing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sadiq emphasized the historical cordial relations between Pakistan and Japan, highlighting shared democratic values and strong people-to-people connections. He pointed out the significant potential for Japanese investment in Pakistan’s agriculture and trade sectors, noting that collaboration in these areas could bring the nations closer.
Speaker Sadiq also underscored the importance of training Pakistan’s large youth population in advanced technological fields in Japan. He expressed a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing economic, trade, and parliamentary cooperation, seeing it as a pathway to regional prosperity.
Ambassador Suichi acknowledged Pakistan’s potential and reiterated Japan’s commitment to boosting economic ties. He welcomed the proposal to diversify trade relations and assured Japan’s support in Pakistan’s socio-economic development. The Ambassador identified Pakistan as a key partner in Japan’s outreach to South Asia, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in various sectors.
