Jammu Residents Celebrate Passing of Special Status Resolution.

Jammu: Scores of residents of Jammu in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir celebrated the passing of special status resolution at the district headquarters of the Jammu Kashmir National Conference (NC).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the celebrations saw participation from both locals and NC workers, who raised slogans in favor of the chief minister, Omar Abdullah. The celebrants burst crackers as they welcomed the resolution demanding special status for the territory.

Mission Statehood President Sunil Dimple expressed support for the resolution, highlighting that the residents of Jammu have faced significant challenges over the past several years. He noted that the community is embracing this development.

Sunil Dimple further stated that on August 5, the Modi government attempted to strip Jammu Kashmir of its special status and identity. He highlighted that the State subject law, initially granted by the Dogra kings, was taken away from Kashmiris, reducing Dogra pride to mere symbolism, as per the BJP’s actions. Despite opposition in Jammu, individuals who resisted the decision were often labeled by the BJP’s IT cell. Nevertheless, he maintained that they persevered in their fight.

Dimple added that the Jammu and Kashmir government, through the resolution, is attempting to preserve the heritage of Maharaja Hari Singh, who advocated for Kashmir’s special status.
