JAMMU, In a solemn tribute to the martyrs of the 1947 massacre, a function was held in Jammu, organized by the United Peace Alliance (UPA), comprising various socio-political organizations and individuals.
According to Kashmir Media Service, UPA Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, highlighted the tragic ethnic cleansing that occurred in Jammu at the hands of Maharaja Hari Singh’s forces in 1947. He expressed regret over the omission of this massacre from history books. Saleem emphasized that this crime against humanity deserves universal condemnation.
Former Advocate General Jameel Kazmi called for the construction of a memorial to honor the martyred. Senior Peace Activist ID Khajuria reflected on the inhumanity of the massacre and stressed the need to prevent such incidents in the future.
Former Member of Parliament Sheikh Abdul Rehman raised concerns about the resurgence of communal forces, potentially leading to societal divisions. Other speakers, including Sukhdev Singh, RP Singh, Pritam Singh, and Shibbanji Koul, also shared their thoughts at the event.
