Jammu Martyrs’ Day: Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Kashmir Amid Historical Tragedy

Islamabad: The 6th of November is remembered as a significant date in the history of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), marking a grim chapter from 1947 when hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Jammu were killed by the Dogra regime and armed groups. This day, known as Jammu Martyrs’ Day, symbolizes efforts to change the region’s demographic makeup.

Engr. Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by the people of IIOJK. The minister drew parallels between the events of 1947 and the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A by India on August 5, 2019, which further intensified demographic changes and repression.

Muqam expressed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people, emphasizing the continued detention and persecution of Hurriyat leaders. He stated Pakistan’s resolve to highlight human rights abuses in IIOJK and to support the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.

Pakistan’s stand is underpinned by United Nations Security Council resolutions, which call for a free and impartial plebiscite to determine the future of Jammu and Kashmir. On this day, Pakistan pays tribute to the martyrs of Jammu and reaffirms its political, diplomatic, and moral backing for the Kashmiri cause.
