Jamiat draws Yogi’s attention towards unilateral action against Muslims in Sultanpur violence

Lucknow, October 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a letter to the Chief Minister of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JUH) has demanded of him to order stopping “unilateral action” being taken by the authorities against Muslims on the violence in Ibrahimpur area in Sultanpur district of the state. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani pointed towards the communal violence that broke out on October 10 but now the action was only being taken against the Muslims.

It is to mention here that violence broke out in the Baldirai area after Hindus attacked Muslims when they asked the members of other community to lower the music at the time of Namaz. The Hindus had deliberately stopped their religious rally near the mosque and started playing loud music. When they were asked by some Muslims to lower the volume at time of Namaz, the Hindus attacked Muslims which led to clashes between members of the two communities. The mosque was also damaged whereas shops of Muslims and a madrassa in Ibrahimpur were also vandalized. The students were also thrashed by the violent Hindu mob.

The JUH pointed out despite all this situation now the police are only arresting Muslims “unilaterally”. Maulana Madani also pointed towards the biased attitude of a police officer saying that instead of establishing justice, the police officer Amarinder Singh incited the crowd calling to punish the Muslims selectively and bulldoze their houses. His video is viral and whatever he said is being implemented now in the area, Madani said. Five people have been served notice for illegal occupation, of which four are Muslims and one is from the Yadav community. JUH also claimed that all those arrested are Muslims who were beaten up by the lawyers in the court premises on Friday.
