Jamaat-e-Islami in Kashmir Calls for Rejection of RSS-BJP Political Strategies

Srinagar: The Jamaat-e-Islami party in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir has issued a call to Kashmiris to resist what it describes as efforts by the RSS and BJP to further politically disenfranchise and de-Islamize the region. The party has cautioned its members against engaging in activities purportedly under its banner, citing legal risks and the potential misuse of its name for political ends.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the organization issued a press release criticizing the actions and intentions of the RSS and BJP in the region, particularly highlighting concerns about the use of the party’s name by entities cooperating with these Indian nationalist groups. The Jamaat-e-Islami detailed the legal dangers its members face under current anti-terror legislation, like the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), especially after the party’s ban.

The press release also refuted claims of isolation following the ban, acknowledging significant support from a broad spectrum of Kashmiri society, including other political, religious, and social organizations, despite ideological differences. The statement specifically thanked groups such as NC, PDP, and PC for their backing against the ban and ongoing support.

Further, the Jamaat-e-Islami’s statement highlighted concerns over certain individuals and entities in the media who it claimed were acting as facilitators for the BJP-RSS’s agenda, urging the public to remain critical of political maneuvers within the media landscape.
