Jam Kamal Meets EU Envoy, Emphasizes Human and Labor Rights


ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to upholding human and labor rights during a meeting with European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Olaf Skoog in Islamabad. The discussions centered on maintaining and enhancing trade advantages under the Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus while adhering to international commitments.



According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Jam Kamal underscored the importance of improving compliance with these international obligations, noting their significance not only for meeting global standards but also for the nation’s benefit. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts in this regard.



Ambassador Olaf Skoog commended Pakistan for its proactive engagement with the European Union. He pointed out the mutual benefits derived from the GSP+ framework, which aids both Pakistani exporters and European importers. Skoog further expressed a desire to see strengthened collaboration between the EU and Pakistan at various multilateral human rights platforms.
