Jeddah: Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, urged the international community and the United Nations to take decisive action in resolving the Kashmir dispute, highlighting its historical, legal, and humanitarian dimensions. Speaking at the Kashmir Solidarity Day event in Jeddah, Khan condemned the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir as a moral and legal challenge to global conscience.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Khan emphasized that Kashmir is not merely a territorial dispute but a significant humanitarian crisis requiring urgent international attention. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s diplomatic, political, and moral support for the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination.
The event, attended by the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities in Saudi Arabia, included messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan, all underscoring the nation’s unified stance on the issue. Other speakers, including Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq and Minister for Rehabilitation Ch. Javed Iqbal, condemned India’s actions since August 5, 2019, which revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
Speakers collectively criticized India’s alleged human rights violations and attempts to change the region’s demographics. Consul General of Pakistan Khalid Majid thanked Saudi leadership for their support and praised the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for raising awareness about the Kashmiris’ plight.
A documentary screened at the event depicted the suffering of Kashmiris under Indian occupation. Participants reiterated their commitment to the Kashmiri struggle and called for international action to address issues in Kashmir and Palestine. The gathering concluded with a message of solidarity, emphasizing justice and human rights for all occupied territories.
