Jailed Muslim activist Atiq Ur Rehman’s condition deteriorates 

New Delhi, March 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The jailed Muslim activist and student leader, Atiq Ur Rahman has been hospitalised in New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after his health condition deteriorated in jail. The Muslim scholar at Meerut’s Chaudhary Charan Singh University was arrested in October 2020 while on his way to Hathras to meet the family of the Dalit girl who was gang-raped and murdered by upper caste Hindus.

The health condition of Atiq Ur Rahman was deteriorated, the family members and the Campus Front of India he is associated with, said. Mateen, his brother, told media men that one side of Rahman’s body is shaking rhythmically and involuntarily. “We are in the emergency ward and doctors have advised CT scan.”

Mateen said they got a call from jail authorities on Sunday informing that Rahman was unwell and shifted to AIIMS. Rehman is suffering from a severe chronic heart related ailment called Aortic Regurgitation and his condition has worsened during his stay in jail, his friend, Mohammad said.
