Jailed APHC Chairman Masarat Alam Butt hailed for his courage, steadfastness

Srinagar, January 13, 2023 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has hailed its illegally incarcerated chief and All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Masarrat Alam Butt for his courage and steadfastness. Masarrat Alam Butt has spent half of his life in Indian jails for his commitment to the Kashmir cause and representing the aspirations of the Kashmiris for the right to self-determination according to United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The JKML in a statement issued in Srinagar said the jailed leader has been repeatedly detained 39 times under black law Public Safety Act (PSA). It strongly condemned massive crackdown operations in the territory as the Indian troops along with members of Village Defense Guards continued house to house searches of the residences of Muslims for the second week in several villages and towns of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi and Kathua districts of Jammu region.

Indian troops along with Indian paramilitary personnel have also raised a pro-India militia in the name of Village Defense Guards and started imparting arms training to its members. As per media reports, the training camps have been established at Mahadev Menka firing range near the Line of Control in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district which has caused a sense of fear among the Muslims of the territory.

It also denounced harassment of the Kashmiri Muslims by Indian forces. Almost four dozen Muslim youth have been arrested and women are being interrogated in police stations and army camps, it lamented. The JKML appealed to the international community to acknowledge the ground reality and protect the Kashmiri people from the Indian state terrorism. The world community needs to open its eyes and see impartially what is happening in the disputed territory, it added. It also urged the Islamic republic of Pakistan, a principal party to the Kashmir dispute, to approach the UN Secretary General and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to seek their help to force India to stop crimes against humanity in IIOJK.
