Jaffarabad: Deputy Commissioner Azhar Shahzad chaired a District Intelligence Coordination Committee (DICC) meeting in Jaffarabad to finalize security and service preparations for the upcoming Muharram observances.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting included representatives from law enforcement and intelligence agencies, focusing on ensuring a secure environment for the Muharram processions. The local administration confirmed that no foreigners are present in the district for the events, and detailed plans were made to clear and secure the procession routes. This includes extensive cleaning efforts and bomb squad clearances.
Security measures are being complemented by substantial public health preparations. District Headquarters (DHQ) doctors and medical staff will be on high alert, particularly on the 7th and 10th of Muharram, with a dedicated health team accompanying the processions to provide immediate medical assistance.
Additionally, the Public Health Engineering Department has been tasked with ensuring uninterrupted water supply for Sabil Langar Niaz, with strict instructions to prevent any water supply issues during the observances. The local municipal staff are conducting cleanliness drives along the routes and around Imambargahs to maintain hygiene and order.
Deputy Commissioner Shahzad also discussed infrastructure improvements, including drainage enhancements to manage monsoon rainwaters effectively, safeguarding the city’s infrastructure and residents’ properties. He noted that additional machinery would be rented if necessary to support these efforts.
