Jaffarabad District Bolsters Flood Defenses Ahead of Monsoon Season

Jaffarabad: Deputy Commissioner of Jaffarabad, Azhar Shahzad, announced that the district is actively strengthening its flood defenses in anticipation of the monsoon season, aiming to safeguard the lives and properties of its residents. This proactive initiative follows a review by the revenue department that identified vulnerabilities in local embankments.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the district administration has utilized heavy machinery to reinforce embankments at critical locations along the Samshakh and Haridin drainage areas. Efforts over the past five days have resulted in significant fortifications at eight of eleven identified risk points in Samshakh, with plans to complete the remaining sections shortly. Additionally, three weak points in the Hayeruddin drainage area have been recognized and are slated for urgent reinforcement.

Deputy Commissioner Shahzad emphasized the commitment of the district officials to the welfare of the community, stating that the administration is working tirelessly to prevent potential flood damage. He also highlighted the use of rented machinery to address urgent needs in areas most susceptible to flooding, ensuring that all preparatory work is conducted efficiently and effectively.

The announcement was made during a briefing session where Naib Tehsildar Mohammad Zarif Gola also informed the Deputy Commissioner about ongoing issues and progress. Shahzad commended the efforts of the team and urged close monitoring of the reinforcement work to prevent any hardships for the residents during the upcoming rainy season.
