Srinagar, October 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the brother of the 20-year-old labourer, Shahid Ahmad, who was killed by Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force personnel in cold blood in Shopian district, yesterday, has demanded a probe by an international body into the gruesome murder.
The victim’s younger brother, Zubair Ahmad, talking to media men in Srinagar said that Shahid was returning home on Sunday morning along with two friends when the incident happened. “He was walking on foot when CRPF personnel fired at him in Zainapora area of the district.”
“It is a targeted killing,” Zubair continued, struggling to hold back his tears. “They shot him in cold blood. There was no cross firing in the area. If it has happened with to us, it can happen to anyone. The troops are killing innocent people and branding them as militants. We want justice.”
The victim, a Class X dropout, was the eldest among four siblings and the major bread-earner of the family. He is survived by a grandmother, parents and a younger brother. The parents were on their way to Shopian to collect the body of their son when this report was filed. The troops martyred another youth Zia Mustafa, who was detained in Kotbhalwal jail, and was brought out and killed in a fake encounter in Poonch district, yesterday.
This is a staged killing as Indian troops took revenge of the killing of their 9 colleagues who were killed two weeks ago during cordon and search operations in Mandhar area. The troops failed to nab the attackers and in return killed innocent person who was facing detention in Jammu jail, a human rights activist in Srinagar told media men over phone.
He said such custodial killings are going on in Jammu and Kashmir for the past 33 years; however, it is duty of UN, OIC, EU and world human rights organisations like Amnesty, HRW to send their teams to Kashmir and probe of all such incidents.
