Islamabad: Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized the pivotal role of Information Technology and data in driving sustainable development and socio-economic growth. Addressing a Parliamentarian Dialogue Session on “Inclusive Policy Reforms for Improved Water and Food Security in a Changing Climate,” she highlighted how IT provides accurate, real-time data on critical areas such as water resources, climate patterns, and agricultural needs.
According to Press Information Department, Shaza Fatima underscored the importance of data in empowering policymakers to make informed decisions that address real-time challenges. She stated that leveraging IT enables the creation of data-driven, inclusive policies that promote sustainable water and food security. She further noted that technology is playing a crucial role in ensuring water security and proper usage, as well as its application in the agriculture sector.
The Minister elaborated on the Ministry of IT and Telecom’s initiatives to enhance IT adoption, aiming to make data more open and accessible for improved public services and evidence-based policymaking. She highlighted the rapid advancement in Pakistan’s IT sector, which is essential for securing the nation’s economic future. The Ministry is committed to fostering innovation, digital transformation, and economic growth, with an increasing trend in the exports of Pakistan’s IT sector.
