ISSI Roundtable Discusses Strategic Responses to South Asian Developments


Islamabad: Amidst significant geopolitical shifts in South Asia, the India Study Centre at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) hosted a roundtable titled “Recent Developments in South Asia,” focusing on the region’s evolving dynamics and proposing strategic directions for Pakistan.



According to Press Information Department, the event gathered diplomats, scholars, and think-tank leaders who deliberated on the internal and external factors influencing South Asian countries, particularly highlighting recent events in Bangladesh. The discussion emphasized the complexity of regional politics exacerbated by global geopolitical tensions and major-power rivalries. Participants pointed out the counterproductive outcomes of interference policies and stressed the need for Pakistan to pursue a balanced and proactive regional strategy.



The roundtable produced several policy recommendations for Pakistan, including enhancing bilateral relationships, strengthening trade ties, and fostering regional connectivity and economic integration to promote sustained peace and stability in South Asia.
