ISSI Engages in Bilateral Think-Tank Dialogue with Italian Counterpart


Islamabad, The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) welcomed Mr. Andrea Margelleti, President of the Centre for International Studies (Ce.S.I.) from Italy, for a comprehensive dialogue on international and regional affairs.



According to Press Information Department, representatives from ISSI, including Ambassador Sohail Mahmood and the research team, alongside members of the Italian mission, engaged in discussions on significant global and regional developments. Both sides recognized the strength and growth of Pakistan-Italy relations and addressed various geopolitical issues including the conflict in Ukraine, security in Europe, developments in the Asia-Pacific, and stability in the Middle East since October 7, 2023.



The forum also reviewed the regional landscape of South Asia, the situation in Afghanistan post-August 2021, and recent events in West Asia. The exchanges reflected a mutual understanding of the interconnected nature of global and regional dynamics and the need for cooperative efforts to enhance global security and harmony.



The session culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ISSI and Ce.S.I., with Ambassador Sohail Mahmood and Mr. Andrea Margelleti formalizing their institutions’ commitment to future joint research initiatives and academic collaboration.
