ISSI Commemorates Global Day of Action for Gaza in Solidarity with Palestine

Islamabad, The Centre for Afghanistan Middle East and Africa (CAMEA) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) hosted an event marking the ‘Global Day of Action for Gaza,’ showing solidarity with the Palestinian people. The gathering included notable attendees such as Mr. Nader al Turk, Deputy Head of the Palestine Mission in Pakistan.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of ISSI; Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman of ISSI’s Board of Governors; Director of CAMEA, Ms. Amina Khan; and members of the CAMEA team were present. In his address, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood highlighted Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an independent, viable, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian State with Al-Quds-Al-Sharif as its capital, in line with pre-June 1967 borders.

He also reiterated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ stance supporting South Africa’s application to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning Israel’s alleged violations under the 1951 Genocide Convention in Gaza. Mahmood condemned the ongoing military operations by Israel against the Palestinians, which he argued could not be justified as self-defense. He called for immediate and unconditional ceasefire, expressing deep solidarity with the Palestinians over the significant human losses due to Israeli aggression.

Ms. Amina Khan voiced her support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned Israel’s occupation, urging for an immediate ceasefire and the lifting of the siege on Gaza. Mr. Nader al Turk shed light on the grave conditions faced by civilians in Gaza, especially women and children, labeling the situation as genocide. He expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent support and highlighted the deep relationship between Pakistan and Palestine.

Ambassador Khalid Mahmood also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Palestine and stressed the international community’s responsibility to ensure an urgent ceasefire. The event reflected a strong stance of solidarity and support from Pakistan towards the Palestinian cause, reiterating the nation’s commitment to seeking justice and resolution in the region.
